Everybody knows about the Cooper killings.

There was only one survivor – fifteen-year-old Nic Preston.

Now eighteen, Nic is trying hard to rebuild her life. But then one night her high-security apartment is broken into. It seems the killers are back to finish the job.

Finn Carter – hacker, rule-breaker, player – is the last person Nic ever wants to see again. He’s the reason her mother’s murderer’s walked free. But as the people hunting her close in, Nic has to accept that her best chance of staying alive is by staying close to Finn.

And the closer they get to the truth, and to each other, the greater the danger becomes.

I started Conspiracy Girl pretty late one night with the intention of reading just a chapter or two. The next thing I know, it’s 2am and I finished it.

From the very beginning, Nic is a scared, paranoid and closed off heroine. The horrors of watching her mum and step-sister murdered, the following trial and media onslaught have left her in a state. Alderson depicts her anxiety realistically and sensitively which made it even more rewarding to see her learn to trust Finn over the course of betrayals, near-death experiences and gripping chases. She grew from a scared girl into a strong, capable young woman.

I think it was essential that Finn’s past was so marred by grief as well. In him she found one of the few people who could behind to understand how she felt and her need for justice for her family. It always helps that he’s an incredibly hot, hacker, tech genius. The chemistry between them crackled and having the dual narrative just intensified that; I love seeing it from both sides, it makes every interaction even more intense when you know how the other person is feeling. Another complete winner of a romance.

Sarah Alderson is undoubtedly the queen of sexy YA thrillers full of heart-pumping conspiracies, chases and tension and Conspiracy Girl was no exception. Bring on the next one!

Thanks to S&S for the review copy!
